Abbas Back to Square One, Demands ‘Freeze’ Before Talks

(Israelnationalnews.com) Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, speaking Sunday as if he had never met with American and Israeli leaders in the White House last week, conditioned more direct talks with Israel on an extension of the building freeze.
His statement turned back the clock to pre-White House rhetoric that had precluded face-to-face discussions with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu until last week. Abbas and Prime Minister Netanyahu, after individual meetings with U.S. President Barack Obama in a day of carefully choreographed discussions last Thursday, spoke with each other for over two hours behind closed doors and gave President Obama the opportunity to say he brought them together.
U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell said they even agreed to meet next week for a fresh round of talks, but Abbas said on a visit to Libya Saturday night, “If the freeze period is not extended by the end of the month, there will be no negotiations."

Hamas' new methods: Multiple small attacks by unknown imported terrorists
|
Posted by jewishindy on Saturday, September 04 @ 20:55:00 EDT (28 reads)
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report September 2, 2010, 9:48 AM (GMT+02:00) Another drive-by shooting claimed by Hamas injured Moshe and Shira Morani from Maaleh Efraim at the Rimonim junction near Ramallah Wednesday night, Sept. 1. It was exactly the same as the attack which left four Israelis dead near Hebron Tuesday night - except that the couple saved their lives by fleeing their vehicle to a nearby wadi to escape a second round of point blank fire. When finally rescued, Moshe was in serious condition.
DEBKAfile's counter-terror sources report that although the method of attack did not vary the two incidents were the work of different Hamas cells. Several of these cells are believed to be loose on the West Bank with instructions to accompany to keep up their terrorist attacks for as long as the Washington talks between Israeli and the Palestinians continue. Some of these death squads are expected to try and cross the Green Line from the West Bank and reach targets inside Israel.
According to our sources, the IDF and Israel's security services have no leads to the perpetrators of the two attacks or their despatchers - because, they estimate, Hamas has imported terrorists from its ranks in Syria and Lebanon. These terrorists have no known ties to any Hamas branch. Neither are they listed by the Israeli and Palestinian security services. Each of these cells operates independently of the others.
So even if any of these terrorists are caught - or an individual is wounded and questioned, he will not be able to provide leads to the others.

Al-Qaida-inspired cell planned to kidnap soldiers, murder Christians.

August 28, 2010 Seven Israeli Arabs affiliated with al-Qaida and Global Jihad have been arrested for allegedly murdering a taxi driver last year, and carrying out a series of terrorist attacks, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) revealed on Monday. In a joint police-Shin Bet operation, Ahmed Ahmed, 21, Jalib Janam, 26, Wassim Allam, 23, Khidar Ziddana, 22, Ahbed Abu-Salim, 19, Adi Azzam, 23, and Oman Kakhibi, 22, all Nazareth residents, were arrested between May 11 and June 21. All seven were indicted Monday at the Haifa District Court. Photo by Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) Dep.-Cmdr. Avi Elgrisi, Head of Amakim Police's Central Unit told The Jerusalem Post that "this is one of the most dangerous cells we have uncovered." The investigation was initially focused on two suspects, before being widened to include a total of seven suspects, he said, adding that police are expected to make more arrests in connection with the investigation.
The seven said that they founded a group called Aljahabiyya and claim to follow Salafism, an extremist Sunni Islamic movement. Aljahabiyya was formed two years ago, and inspired by and affiliated with al-Qaida and Global Jihad. The group underwent a process of radicalization, using material found on the Internet, including pictures of weaponry and instructions to prepare explosives and perpetrate terrorist attacks. The seven downloaded al-Qaida propaganda movies and speeches by Osama Bin Laden.

Hamas: Jews in Judea, Samaria 'Legitimate Targets'

(Israelnationalnews.com) The Hamas terrorist group declared Saturday that Jews in Judea and Samanaria are “legitimate military targets” and vowed to continue its attacks in the region.
Hamas spokesman Azat al-Ghashek told the London-based Arabic language Al-Hayat newspaper it is “natural” to hurt Jews in the region because they are “the reserve force of the occupation army on Palestinian land.”
He praised last week's murderous attack by Hamas operatives near Kiryat Arba / Hevron that left four Beit Hagai residents dead, saying it proved the Palestinian people's desire to wage war against “the Zionist enemy.” The four victims included two men, one a newlywed, and two women, one of whom was nine months pregnant.
“Hurting Zionist settlers is a natural thing... they now constitute an actual army, in the full sense of the word,” al-Ghashek told the newspaper. “They have more than a half a million automatic weapons, in addition to the basic protection granted them by the occupation army.”
On Thursday, the Reuters news agency reported that 13 Gaza terrorist groups have allegedly teamed up to launch a new round of attacks against Israeli civilians.

George Mitchell, the White House envoy to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, specifically requested that Israel remove roadblocks and checkpoints as a confidence-building gesture to restart talks with the PA
By Aaron Klein WorldNetDaily August 31, 2010
JERUSALEM – Today's deadly terror attack that killed four people took place on a road where the Israeli government removed staffed anti-terror checkpoints in line with requests from the Obama administration, WND has learned.
As President Obama was preparing for a Washington summit with the Israeli and Palestinian leaders, Palestinian terrorists today carried out a shooting attack, killing two Jewish men and two women, one of whom was pregnant.
The attack took place in the West Bank just south of the entrance to Kiryat Arba, near the historic biblical city of Hebron.
Israeli security officials say the terrorist shooting was a coordinated ambush.

After attack, Yishai to ease settlers’ gun controls

Move comes after it emerges that one of the victims had his gun permit revoked months prior to the attack.
By REBECCA ANNA STOIL Jerusalem Post September 3, 2010 Friday 24 Elul 5770 Interior Minister Eli Yishai moved Wednesday to relax gun controls for West Bank residents after it emerged that Yitzhak Ames, one of four people killed in Tuesday night’s terrorist attack near Hebron, had his weapons permit revoked a few months prior to being murdered.
Yishai requested that Populations Registry head Amnon Ben-Ami act to relax conditions, including allowing settlers to acquire weapons without police approval, relying instead on professional opinions from the Interior Ministry, the Population Registry and the Immigration Authority.
Ames had been licensed to carry a weapon through his employment as a security guard. Approximately six months ago, Ames’s weapon permit was suspended, allegedly due to his involvement in public disturbances.
“I instructed to immediately relax the registration of weapons to residents of Judea and Samaria,” Yishai explained Wednesday.
Within a few hours of Tuesday night’s terror attack, in which Ames and his wife as well as two other residents of Beit Hagai were gunned down near Kiryat Arba by Palestinian terrorists, settlers’ advocates railed against the fact that Ames’s personal weapon had been seized in late 2009.

(Israelnationalnews.com) A Jewish civilian patrol will begin Thursday night on Judea and Samaria roads. The patrol began its work shortly after two terrorist shooting attacks, one near Hevron and one in the Binyamin region, in which four people were murdered and two wounded.
A third shooting attack was reported on Thursday night near the town of Ofra. The intended victim said he heard shooting, but was not hurt. The IDF investigated the incident and said it was not a shooting.
The civilian patrol initiative is backed by the Binyamin and Samaria Residents Councils. Those taking turns on patrol are former combat soldiers and IDF reservists; all will be armed with guns and will carry medical supplies.
The Residents Councils called on all Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria to send units made up of civilian reservists out to patrol local roads on a regular basis.

Following the brutal murder this week of four Israelis south of Hebron, The Legal Forum for the Land of Israel demanded that Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein disband the special team for law enforcement in Judea and Samaria responsible for gun control procedures in the area.
Deputy State Prosecutor, Attorney Shai Nitzan, heads the team for "Law Enforcement in Judea and Samaria", which operates within the Ministry of Justice and includes representatives of the IDF, the police, the Shabak etc. Until several years ago this team was top secret and its existence and operations were only recently disclosed. It operates on a selective basis.
The Legal Forum for the Land of Israel has complained to the Attorney General on several occasions about the team's activities. Following the brutal murder south of Hebron this week, the Legal Forum is once again calling for the disbanding of the team.
Carrying weapons for self defense is common among Jews who reside or work in Judea and Samaria. Yitzhak Imes of Bet Haggai who was murdered on Wednesday night was without his handgun. His firearms license was revoked following his participation in protest activities prior to the Disengagement. This past April Attorney Itzhak Bam, a member of The Legal Forum and a personal friend of Imas, appealed the suspension of Imes' [renewed] firearms license. By law, Attorney Bam should have received a response to his appeal within 45 days, however, when Yitzhak Imes was murdered on August 31st, the authorities had not yet answered why his license was still suspended.

(Israelnationalnews.com) Terrorists wounded an Israeli girl, a resident of Har Bracha, on Thursday night in a rock attack near the Tapuach junction in Samaria.
According to reports, the girl was travelling with her parents in the family vehicle when Arabs threw stones towards the vehicle near Kfar Haras. The girl was hit in the head by a heavy stone in the attack. Her parents continued to drive until the Tapuach junction where she was given initial treatment.
The victim was taken to the Schneider Children's Hospital in Petach Tikvah. Her condition was defined as moderate, meaning that doctors do not currently fear for her life but that there is a risk of permanent handicap.
IDF soldiers are searching for the perpetrators.
Earlier in the evening an Israeli man reported that terrorists fired on his car as he drove near the town of Ofra, north of Jerusalem. IDF soldiers investigated and said the sounds the man heard were caused by fireworks, not gunshots.

Ketzaleh: Netanyahu Entering Jewish History's Blacklist

MK Yaakov ( Ketzaleh) Katz sent Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu an unforgiving message upon the beginning of “peace talks” in Washington. The two terror attacks this week that left five dead (including an unborn baby in its ninth month of development) and two wounded would not have occurred, he said, were it not for 'gestures' made to the Palestinian Authority, and restrictions placed on Jewish construction.
"This is the first time in Jewish history that a Jewish leader in the Land of Israel – with the exception of Herod and the like – issued an edict that Jews may not build. There were only non-Jewish leaders who issued such decrees – Romans, Greeks, Seljuks and Mameluks – but never did it occur that a Jew issued a decree barring Jews from building only because they are Jews. Not even under Rabin, Barak, Sharon and Olmert.”
"When you issue such decrees,” Ketzaleh explained, “it is a small wonder that the Arabs understand this as meaning that since we belong to the unclean caste, the despised caste, the discriminated-against caste – then it is alright to fire at us on the roads.”
"Jewish history will not forgive and will not forget,” Katz said. “The Jewish people does not forget... It is very sensitive to its rights and to the decrees made against it. It does not forget the European expulsions, it does not forget the expulsion at Gush Katif by Ariel Sharon, it will not forget the decrees by Olmert at Amona, and it will never, never, never forget what Netanyahu did with the edict that 350,000 Jews must not build.”

False Arab Graves Also Found Near Eastern Old City Wall

(Israelnationalnews.com) Several weeks ago, Arutz7 reported exclusively that dozens of new tombs were being added to the Mamilla Cemetery, an ancient Muslim cemetery located on the outskirts of Jerusalem's Independence Park, but no one is buried beneath them. These faked graves were in fact a Muslim project aimed at taking over land.
Following Arutz7’s report, the faked tombs were removed by the Jerusalem Municipality and the Israel Lands Authority.
Now, it appears as though the same phenomenon is occurring also in the area of the Eastern Wall in Jerusalem (adjacent to the Western Wall). The Arabs are simply ignoring a law that deems the area a national park.
Maya Shukri of the El Har HaMoriyah Institute, who documented the faked graves with her camera, told Arutz7 on Wednesday that at the present time, the graves are empty but an infrastructure is in place for future burials. Shukri, who compared older photographs to photographs taken recently, said that “there are markings [of graves] there, but underneath there is only soil. Some of them don’t have a tombstone.”
About a year ago, Israel’s High Court responded to an appeal which was brought forth and ruled that no burial would be allowed to take place on these grounds, and in fact, ruled that the area is to be transformed into a national park. The decision meant that the area would be cleaned, benches will be placed, and proper lighting installed.

From his hospital bed in Hadassah Hospital where the bullet wound to his leg is being treated, he spoke with Arutz-7’s Uzi Baruch on Thursday morning and said, “I’m not sure if I’m 37 years old – or one day old, after what happened to me last night. Netanyahu said there was “no change to the cabinet decision to end” the freeze.
He and Clinton spoke in advance of Netanyahu's meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama.
“It is impossible to take the issue of settlements in the West Bank, which is an issue for the permanent agreement and deal with it separately at the beginning of the direct talks,” Netanyahu was quoted as saying by AFP.
Israel has made no demands of the Palestinian Authority, he said. “We came here to find a real solution without preconditions,” he stated.

(Israelnationalnews.com) Defense Minister Ehud Barak says it is likely that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will agree to divide Jerusalem with the Palestinian Authority.
Barak told the Hebrew-language newspaper Haaretz in an interview published Wednesday that he believes the best chance for peace lies in a peace deal in which all the Arab neighborhoods in Jerusalem would be handed over to the PA in order to create a capital for a new Arab country.
“If Netanyahu leads a process, a significant number of rightist ministers will stand with him,” he told the newspaper. “So what is needed is courage to make historic, painful decisions. I'm not saying that there is certainty for success, but there is a chance. This chance must be exploited to the fullest.”
The peace plan described by Barak includes the following:
* two states for two nations
* an end to the conflict and the end of all future demands
* demarcation of a border “that will run inside the Land of Israel” dividing a demilitarized PA state from an Israel that includes the “settlement blocs”
* retrieving and relocating the “isolated settlements” into the settlement blocs or within Israel
* a solution to the refugee problem within the PA state, or rehabilitating them through international aid
* comprehensive security arrangements
* a “solution to the Jerusalem problem.”

(Israelnationalnews.com) The funerals of the four victims of last night’s Palestinian terrorist attack, all residents of Beit Haggai in southern Judea, will be held this morning. The victims were shot dead on the busy Highway 60, used by both Israelis and Palestinian Authority settlers, just south of Hevron.
The four will be eulogized outside the central synagogue in Beit Haggai, from where the funerals will leave to three different cemeteries in Jerusalem, Ashdod and Petah Tikvah. Among those eulogizing the four are Knesset Speaker Ruby Rivlin.
Yitzchak and Talia Imas will be buried in the ancient Mt. of Olives cemetery opposite the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Their home was a heart-breaking sight last night and this morning, where six orphans aged 2 to 24 were gathered: Daniel (married with a six-month-old son), Ruth, Ariel, Hodaya, Ruhama and Oz-David. Talia was in her ninth month of pregnancy.
A friend and neighbor of the family, Yehuda Glick, related last night with tears in his eyes: “I have known them for over 20 years, even when they were still in Moscow, having discovered Judaism and working for Aliyah. They came to Israel, to Gush Etzion, 19 years ago, with a sense of national mission for the Jewish People… They were gentle, regal people… He was a man of letters, who published a book last year on the Shiltei Giborim – though he also worked with his hands, gardening and the like; Talia was an accountant, and together they educated their family, six children and she was pregnant… In recent years, Yitzchak dedicated much time to the Temple Mount, studying by heart all the relevant works in the Mishna and the Rambam. He used to go up to the holy site every week; this morning he went to the Temple Mount, and this evening he ascended to the Throne of Glory…”
“It is truly heart-breaking… The Holy One, Blessed be He, has plucked here some real angels, gentle of soul with true ideals and direction… They discovered Torah on their own, the Land of Israel on their own, the ideals of settling and building the land, and truly with their own two hands, on their own, brought up such a beautiful family. The heart really breaks to think of this…” “A few months ago, the Prosecution [Justice Department's law enforcement in Judea and Samaria, headed by Attorney Shai Nitzan,] decided to take away his gun… Recently they removed some of the checkpoints, and tomorrow we can expect that there will be more ‘good will gestures’ [as a result of Netanyahu’s trip to Washington – ed.], and we just stand here and cannot understand, cannot understand… How?”

Eldad rebuked "everyone who took part in building the myth, in the past months, that [PA chief] Abu Mazen controls the territory” and called upon them to “sober up and immediately suspend the continued activity to strengthen the PA army that is being established with American sponsorship. This body cannot fight Hamas effectively and we will not be surprised if their weapons are turned against us.”

(Israelnationalnews.com) One of the people murdered by Palestinian Authority terrorists Tuesday used to carry a gun for self-defense, but Israeli authorities took away his permit in late 2009 – leaving him defenseless.
Attorney Yitzchak Bam of the Forum for the Land of Israel represented the deceased man in his legal attempts to win back his gun permit. “In December, he received a letter according to which the permit is suspended because of closed criminal files regarding disturbance of the public peace,” he related. “The last closed file was from the period immediately after the Disengagement,” he said. The permit was extended after the files were closed, however, making it hard to understand why authorities suddenly decided to revoke it.
Shortly after the police's letter arrived at his home, police came to the man's home and took his weapon. An attempt to appeal the decision was rejected.
"The team for the Justice Department's law enforcement in Judea and Samaria, headed by Attorney Shai Nitzan, is the one that set the criteria regarding the licensing of firearms in Judea and Samaria,” Bam said. [end]

(Israelnationalnews.com) Terrorists murdered four Jewish civilians in a shooting attack at the Bani Naim junction just south of Hevron Tuesday evening. Emergency service paramedics could do nothing to save the victims whose bodeis were riddled with numerous bullets. The terrorists reportedly made sure their victims were dead by shooting them from close range after the initial fusillade.
According to report on Channel 2 television, the victims are two couples, and one of them is a pregnant woman. The IDF is combing the area, searching for the terrorists.
Initial reports said one of the victims had a license for a firearm that was suspended shortly before the attack.
Hamas and Fatah are blaming each other for the terror attack.
The terror attack is typical of Arab nationalist attacks that intentionally target civilian victims.
The attack was probably timed to coincide with the direct talks between Israel and the PA in Washington, DC, that are to begin Thursday.

Time for Jews to Behave Like Madmen, Rabbi Says

(Israelnationalnews.com) Words of nationalist awakening were uttered at a meeting of political and spiritual leaders sponsored by the Our Land of Israel group in Nazareth Illit (Upper Nazareth) Tuesday.
Rabbi David Druckman, the Rabbi of Kiryat Motzkin, called on Jews to change their attitude and “act resolutely against those who plot to annihilate us.”
[JewishIndy Editor: Of course this refers to Ehud Barak (Barak secretly conferred Sunday with Palestinian leader Abbas in Amman after talks with Jordan's King Abdullah Sunday,) BB Netanyahu, Shimon Peres and many others in the present Israeli government such as Justice Department's law enforcement in Judea and Samaria, headed by Attorney Shai Nitzan! The Arabs are only number 2.]
"In today's situation,” he said, “we should behave like madmen in order to win. We have no other choice.” In the past, Rabbi Druckman said, “the Arabs trembled before us.” However, when Israel began to give in to the Arabs, the situation was reversed.

Political calendar filled with snags
By Eli Lake The Washington Times August 30, 2010
As Israeli and Palestinian negotiators prepare for the first direct negotiations since 2008, the Jewish state is braced for one of the most difficult diplomatic months in its history.
One Israeli diplomat called next month "Black September," the same name Palestinians used to describe the bloody crackdown against them by Jordan's King Hussein in 1970, and also the name for the infamous Palestinian terrorist group that killed 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics in Munich.
The diplomatic calendar from an Israeli perspective for September is filled with political land mines.

PA Minister Threatens War over Jerusalem

By Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu Arutz Sheva August 30, 2010 20 Elul, 5770
(Israelnationalnews.com) The Palestinian Authority religious affairs minster, a week before peace talks in Washington, warned of war if Jerusalem is not “returned” to “its owners. And we are its owners."
With PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in the audience, Mahmoud Al-Habbash declared in his Friday sermon, "Jerusalem can ignite a thousand and one wars,” according to a translation supplied by Palestinian Media Watch.
Unless Jerusalem "becomes the capital of the Palestinian people, there is no peace," he warned. "The term 'war' will not be erased from the lexicon...as long as Jerusalem is occupied.
“If Jerusalem is dishonored, if Jerusalem is disgraced, if [Jerusalem] is lost, it may leave the door open to all possibilities of struggle, all possibilities of war.
"Jerusalem is not just a city. Al-Aqsa is not just a mosque. Jerusalem is the key to peace…. Unless Jerusalem will be Palestinian, as it was throughout history, the capital of the Palestinian state and the capital of the Palestinian people, the place which is the object of heartfelt longing and which all Muslims aspire to reach; unless Jerusalem is like that way, there is no peace. There is no peace without Jerusalem. There is no stability without Jerusalem.”

The land of Israel is calling upon us!

From Nadia Matar and Yehudit Katsover Women In Green August 30, 2010
September 26th is approaching. September 26th is the day on which the scandalous ten month "freeze" against Jewish construction is finally supposed to come to an end and Jews in Israel's Biblical Heartland are supposed to be allowed to build again. September 26th will be THE crucial day on which we will know who Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu really is.
After his speech at Bar Ilan, when Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke about his willingness to create an Arab Palestinian State in Israel's Heartland, many people said to themselves that "Bibi is only saying so to appease the world but Bibi does not really mean it".
September 26 th will be the test.
Is Bibi the Zionist, national, right wing Prime Minister for which the majority of the Jewish people voted and expected to get? If he is, then Jewish building will start again as it should, unconditionally, all over Judea and Samaria and Jerusalem with no exception. Yes, we must add Jerusalem to this demand too, for not everybody knows this, but the "freeze" has been applied also to Jerusalem.

PA Still Educates for Martyrs

[JewishIndy Editor: If they want martyrs, that is perfectly fine! But that Israel should permit them to live within Israel is perfectly crazy!]

(Israelnationalnews.com) As direct peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority are set to resume in Washington on Thursday, Arutz 7 spoke on Sunday with investigative journalist David Bedein about his film "For the Sake of Nakba". The film, which details the connection between the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and PA incitement, will be shown on Monday on Capitol Hill to members of Congress and other senior American officials.
The film presents interviews with senior PA officials, school principals, as well as students and teachers who say that their destination is the lands of Israeli cities such as Be’er Sheva, Ashkelon and Ashdod.
Bedein directs the bulk of his criticism towards UNRWA, who is responsible, among other things, for PA schools both in Gaza and in Judea and Samaria. “UNRWA commemorates the Nakba in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority,” he said, and added: “It is a central topic in the PA curriculum.”
The film depicts the walls of an UNRWA school, on which there is a portrait of a female terrorist, a graduate of the school, who committed a suicide attack against Israelis. The portrait of another terrorist is also drawn on the walls of the school.
In order to film "For the Sake of Nakba", Bedein employed an experienced television crew who conducted interviews with teachers, principals and students, all of whom discussed an armed struggle against Israel as an educational target in the PA.

Report: Israel Plans to Strike in Syria

(Israelnationalnews.com) The Alrai daily newspaper in Kuwait reported on Saturday that Israel is planning to attack Hizbullah weapons storage and production facilities in Syria. According to unnamed Western sources who were quoted in the report, the IDF has strengthened its troop presence in the Golan Heights and Galilee panhandle. European sources told the paper that Israel had sent unmanned aerial vehicles over Syria and Lebanon, which they see as a sign that a military operation in the area is in the works.
In September of 2007, Israel attacked and destroyed a nuclear reactor in Syria. The site of the bombing was an installation meant to produce plutonium, and was partially funded by North Korea. The CIA had said that Israel bombed the reactor before it attained its planned capacity to manufacture plutonium for nuclear weapons.
Syria did not respond to the 2007 Israeli attack. However, Alrai also cited sources who said that this time Syria would respond forcefully and quickly should it be attacked by Israel. The paper reported that the Syrian Army has deployed anti-aircraft missiles along the Israeli border and in other key strategic areas in the country, and is ready to respond to an attack.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese army claimed on Friday that Israel has begun to use hot air balloons above Lebanon’s skies. The balloons, said the Lebanese army, are equipped with camera and transmission capabilities.
Arab media reported that these hot air balloons had been spotted on Thursday over Baalbek, the villages of Nahla and Younin and the east Lebanon mountain ridge. The Lebanese army said in a statement that Israel’s use of these balloons is “a new violation of Lebanese sovereignty.”

Ministers Told: Your Judea and Samaria Neighborhood Awaits

(Israelnationalnews.com) The Yesha (Judea and Samaria) council held a demonstration on Sunday morning opposite the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem as the cabinet met to discuss policy. Activists called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his ministers to begin issuing building permits in September, when the 10-month construction freeze in Judea and Samaria is set to end.
While Netanyahu has not said anything about extending the freeze, activists have decided to take a proactive approach in light of foreign pressure to keep the freeze going indefinitely.
Demonstrators set up dozens of mock street signs with the names of potential new neighborhoods, all named after members of the cabinet. Among the suggested names for new projects were Naot Yaalon, Ramot Erdan, Nofei Livnat, and Maalot Yishai, in honor of ministers Moshe Yaalon, Gilad Erdan, Limor Livnat and Eli Yishai respectively.
Council members clarified that they are seeking not only an official end to the construction freeze, but also the distribution of building permits, without which they say an official end to the freeze will be meaningless.

Jewish Home Threatens to Bolt Gov't if Freeze Goes On
|

By Gil Ronen Arutz Sheva August 29, 2010 19 Elul, 5770
(Israelnationalnews.com) The Jewish Home / New NRP will bolt the coalition if Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu extends the 10-month building freeze, MK Zevulun Orlev told party activists in Be'er Sheva Sunday. He said the party will not stay in the government if the freeze on Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria is continued, even the extension is carried out in an undeclared manner.
Orlev called upon Knesset members from Likud, Shas and Israel Our Home to join this decision, on the assumption that “Netanyahu will not want to lose his coalition.”
Netanyahu made clear Sunday morning in a meeting pf Likud ministers that there is no change in the government decision regarding the freeze, and hinted that construction would be renewed at the date that was set for this.
Netanyahu said that Minister Dan Meridor's position, that the freeze should be extended and that construction should only be allowed in the “settlement blocs,” is Meridor's personal one and does not reflect the view of the government.
