The renowned psychiatrist, Carl Jung, explained the phenomenon of why and how aggressors justify attacking a selected victim – individual or collective.  The aggressor first plans and assembles itself and cohorts for the attack.  But, it needs an excuse to attack and conquer.  That is accomplished by a propaganda campaign, claiming that “it” – the aggressor – is the intended victim.   That is, the victim is the provocateur who plans on attacking the aggressor.

Generally, the excuse is that the intended victim is going to do exactly what the aggressor has planned.

The Muslim-Arab-Islamists are successfully moving in this direction as they claim “victimhood” wherever they are or have migrated to.  As they grow more aggressive when they reach “critical mass”, they incite their followers, claiming that any resistance by a defending nation or people to their takeover is an act of hatred and war against Islam.

This charge supposedly justifies recruiting more Muslim Jihadists who are told that they are hated and under attack.  It is a well-entrenched system, used time and again through the centuries to justify hostile expansion of Islam.   Conquest and Islam are interchangeable, descriptive titles coupled with a parasitic looting of those they succeed in conquering in the name of Allah and the great Global Caliphate which will rule the world under Sharia Law.

According the renowned Torah philosopher and Talmudist, the late Rabbi Dr. Haim Zimmerman, the Halakha is not merely a vast body of laws and rules having only practical significance.[i]  Underlying these laws and rules he discerns a logic conceptually comparable to that of mathematical physics.  This means that the Halakha is a thoroughly axiomatic system of law which determines the logical status and comparative value of the concrete variables coming under its purview.

Thus, in any case or controversy, the judge has to follow the halakhic rules in the same manner as the quantum physicist has to follow an algorithm, a set of rules telling him how to make calculations using observed data as a starting point, but in conformity with the laws of nature.  Moreover, just as the scientist in a laboratory, has no interest in the "whys" or metaphysical explanations of the laws of nature, so the judge is not concerned with the "reasons" underlying the laws of the Halakha.  ("Why" questions, in both cases, would lead to an infinite regress.  Such questions may be raised for heuristic purposes, but not for deciding the validity of any law.)  The judge, as judge, is only concerned with the clear and immutable rules of the Halakha, their logical consequences and practical effects.  There is no contradiction here between theory and practice.

I          Keep Judea and Samaria. These are disputed areas - not "occupied territories" even though the whole world labels them as such in its insistence that in its self-defensive war Israel took territories that did not belong to her. Jerusalem's official position on this must be changed and then adhered to: Israel liberated its own promised land from illegal occupation by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; an occupation rejected by the entire international community except for Britain and Pakistan, and which lasted from 1948 to the Six Day War in 1967.

II    Israel should in no way fear a demographic problem arising out of keeping all Samaria and Judea, but face it vigorously with the following measures:
a)      Make bringing Jews home from all over the world a top governmental priority, with an upgraded Ministry of Aliyah fielding the best candidates to explain abroad the need for aliyah.
b)      Stimulate natural population growth by providing financial assistance to large families. Where possible there should be an overall effort to counsel against the evil of abortion, so that the tens of thousands of Jewish children that are being aborted every year will live - to be adopted if need be by Israeli families who would love to have children of their own.

Abbas Back to Square One, Demands ‘Freeze’ Before Talks

(Israelnationalnews.com) Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, speaking Sunday as if he had never met with American and Israeli leaders in the White House last week, conditioned more direct talks with Israel on an extension of the building freeze.

His statement turned back the clock to pre-White House rhetoric that had precluded face-to-face discussions with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu until last week. Abbas and Prime Minister Netanyahu, after individual meetings with U.S. President Barack Obama in a day of carefully choreographed discussions last Thursday, spoke with each other for over two hours behind closed doors and gave President Obama the opportunity to say he brought them together.

U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell said they even agreed to meet next week for a fresh round of talks, but Abbas said on a visit to Libya Saturday night, “If the freeze period is not extended by the end of the month, there will be no negotiations."

Growing Tidal Wave of Anger May Drown Obama in November

(Israelnationalnews.com) More polls point to a GOP tidal wave of victory in November’s Congressional elections and U.S. President Barack Obama facing the humility of being a one-term president.

Just when Democrats thought ”things could not get worse,” even surveys from center-left media such as CNN show that the president may repeat former U.S. President Jimmy Carter’s embarrassment of being dumped after one term. An Associated Press report posted on YouTube states that Americans do not believe President Obama’s optimism.

The thunderbolt that struck the Democratic party last week was a Gallup Poll that gave the Republican party a record 10-point margin over the Democrats in a survey that simply asked respondents if they prefer a Democratic or Republican candidate. The GOP edge is the largest in 68 years, dating back to 1942, when the first similar poll was taken.

Similar result in polls by CBS, reflecting dissatisfaction with President Obama’s handling of the economy, health care and the oil spill, indicate that his efforts to impose an agreement on the Palestinian Authority and Israel will not turn the tide.

The CBS “pop poll” last Thursday revealed that two-thirds of Americans give President Obama a “failure” rating for mis-managing the economy, while nearly 60 percent also fail him for foreign policies. On health care, the failure rating soared to more than 78 percent, and 57.5 percent failed him for what used to be called the war on terrorism.

Enough! (spit)

Enough anger, enough cursing out, and enough blaming others for 'the situation'.  Yes, I am referring to the latest gruesome terror attack near Hebron, and most of our reactions to it.

So bottom line... what is to be done?

We are not the Prime Minster of Israel or the President of the United States.  We can't send out armies to go after the terrorists, we can't set foreign policy, we can't send orders to security forces.  Again, we must ask ourselves the question, 'What CAN we do?".

Anger, justified anger, is important, it has a purpose.  But it is not the complete answer, and it does not absolve us of taking responsibility.  Some think, because they got angry, because they shed some tears, because they talked to people about the horrible attack, that they are now patur (absolved) of doing anything else.  This is wrong.  This is futile.  And I believe that the victims of the terror attack would want us to move forward, to take the anger, the tears, the frustration of 'the situation' and DO something about it.  "Don't let us die for nothing!" their voices cry out from the grave.

The so-called "Middle East Peace Process" is usually the last resort of a weak occupant of the White House.

Presidents traditionally improve their approval ratings when the focus shifts to foreign policy, and for almost a generation now, the "Middle East Peace Process" has been a safe way to do that, without any real domestic cost or risk. Of course people die as a result. The death toll in Israel from Obama's latest effort to pander to Muslims and boost his domestic approval ratings is up to 5 now just this week. It was nearly even higher than that. And that is a lot of blood to spill for 2 or 3 percent in the polls.

Rules that officer challenging Obama's eligibility can't see evidence

By Thom Redmond

FT. MEADE, Md. – A career officer in the U.S. Army acting as a judge in the prosecution of Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin today ruled that the military is no place for Barack Obama's presidential eligibility to be evaluated.

Army Col. Denise R. Lind today ruled in a hearing regarding the evidence to be allowed in the scheduled October court-martial of Lakin that he will be denied access to any of Obama's records as well as any testimony from those who may have access to the records.

With her decision, Lind mirrored a number of federal judges who have ruled on civil lawsuits over Obama's eligibility. They have without exception denied the plaintiffs' access to any requested documentation regarding the president's eligibility.

Lind ruled that it was "not relevant" for the military to be considering such claims, that the laws allegedly violated by Lakin were legitimate on their face and that the chain of command led up to the Pentagon, and that should have been sufficient for Lakin.

Paul Rolf Jensen, Lakin's civilian attorney, said the case would continue. But he said the courts now have denied his client the opportunity to present his defense.

Jensen had argued that under U.S.C. Rule 46, a defendant put on court martial has the right to call any and all witnesses and obtain any evidence in his or her defense.

Who cares?
The council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is one of the main players in the "New World Order" (NWO).  The NWO is committed to abolishment of nation-states and a "One-World Government". It is the group (along with the Bilderberg Group,) that everyone (including Bush and Obama and the State Department) take their orders from.  Netanyahu has been a member since 1988 through this very moment.  This explains why Netanyahu and Ehud Barak have been trying feverishly to relinquish parts of Israel to the Arabs and have done everything they can to weaken Israel as a nation-state!
It should be kept in mind however, that the CFR and Bilderberg are themselves underlings of their own 'higher-ups,' and at the very top echelon, one discovers that it is all owned by only two or three families! Bottom line is that this is all a very nice private enterprise.
...That's who cares!  Obama and Netanyahu are only "following orders," as indeed they must.
What must we do about this? Determine for ourselves who exactly are these three families and then take them down - from the bottom up! An Israel that would give the finger to the NWO would be a major monkeywrench in their works!]

"...Clearly, men like Shimon Peres, Yitzhak Rabin, Ehud Barak and others have all left a trail of blood which speaks to the dismemberment of the Jewish State while simultaneously claiming that they were her protectors."
"... our worst enemies have always come from the inside as predicted and described in Tanach (the Torah).  This includes Jews who call themselves Leftists or Arabists – whatever suits them in their war against their own State and people."

Jews have always been ready for peace all the way back to the time the Jewish Quraish (alternative spelling: Koreish or Qurayzah) tribe in Mecca agreed to Mohammed’s 10 year Hudaibiya Peace Treaty.  But, Mohammed broke that treaty in 2 years when he was stronger militarily.  He massacred the Quraish tribe, decapitating the men, selling the women and children into slavery.

The Arab Muslims have always used the ploy of “Hudna” (temporary peace) to trick their adversaries with an offer of a false peace and then come to kill them.

Yassir Arafat told his Arabic audience on the day that the Oslo Peace Accords were signed September 13, 1993 that Oslo was a “Hudaibiya Treaty”.   His speech to them in Arabic was taped and translated.

Clearly, it is not up to Israel’s Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu or Defense Minister Ehud Barak to accept a “Hudna” in the name of the Jewish people.   They would have to surrender Israel’s sovereignty over the heart of her ancient Jewish homeland to secure even a “Hudna”.

Freedom of Belief is Absolute, Freedom of Practice is not

By Matthew M. Hausman

The proposed Islamic center near Ground Zero has prompted passionate debate about freedom of religion and the open nature of American society. Defenders of the project solemnly intone that the terrorists will win if the mosque is not permitted, although they cannot credibly articulate why. Through all sanctimony, responsibility for tolerance is placed solely on the American public, never on the religious ideology that spawned the 9/11 terrorists. Secular liberals ignore the significance of shrine building at sites of victory over the “infidel” and demure on whether there is any obligation to accommodate non-Muslim sensitivities. They also fail to acknowledge that the conflict between Islamist goals and western culture constitutes a clash of civilizations or recognize that jihad seeks to supplant democratic values with theocratic rule. Omitted from the debate is that freedom of religion is not absolute, and that the rights of one may be limited when they infringe upon the liberties of many. These are the real issues informing the mosque controversy, which liberals – and even some conservatives – refuse to address.

Those who purport to preach tolerance never hesitate to condemn conservative Christians for their views or observant Jews for their supposed formalism. Yet, they refuse to challenge an Islamist ideology that is antithetical to the social ideals they claim to hold dear. Though secular liberals often cite the Constitution to justify their perverse political correctness, the First Amendment does not mandate acquiescence to religious extremism or support for dogmatic institutions. As with other Constitutional rights and privileges, freedom of religion is not absolute, and government has a legitimate interest in monitoring and controlling supremacist ideologies that threaten the rights and liberties of others.

By defining the controversy simply as a dispute over religious freedom, the mosque’s advocates and their secular allies deflect the underlying issues. Through all the charges and accusations, no critic of the mosque has denied that Muslims are free to worship in America. The real issue is one of sensitivity, of respecting the norms and priorities of a host society that throughout its history has welcomed and accommodated a diverse array of religious communities and institutions. Because cries of racism are often used to denigrate those who criticize militant Islam, it is important to recognize that Islam is a religion – it is not defined by race, ethnicity or national origin, and should be accorded no greater rights or privileges than any other belief system in American society. The race card is also used to quell any discussion of the history of Islamist conquest, colonialism and subjugation of non-Muslim peoples. However, such discussion is necessary to determine whether and when government intervention is warranted.

Deir Yassin remembered

When discussing the Israeli Palestinian dispute, some Palestinian supporters who like to point to a history of Jewish abuses against innocent Arabs over the last six decades sometimes refer to a particularly infamous battle during the War of 1948 that took place in a small town on the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem Hwy called Deir Yassin. For many reasons, not the least of which concerns political infighting between the major factions of the Israeli body politic, Deir Yassin has taken on a life of its own over the last 61 years.

Deir Yassin has been called a “massacre” by Palestinian and Arab groups as well as Leftist commentators in the West. It might be considered a “massacre” but no more than the Haifa Refinery massacre on December 30, 1947, and the doctors and nurses massacre on the road to Hadassa hospital on Mount Scopus, on April 13, 1948, or any of the other massacres that became part of the fighting history of Israel’s War of Independence. These other “massacres” have long been forgotten by most people accept for the few historians that deal with the course of this eighteen month war. This is not the case with Deir Yassin.

Deir Yassin was one of many towns and villages that had to be cleared during Operation Nachshon, the overall operation to open the road to besieged Jerusalem in April, 1948. Not to take action on this road would mean giving up on Jewish Jerusalem, which was as unthinkable then as it is now. The Jews of Jerusalem had been besieged since January, with no electricity, food, water, or any of the other vital necessities of life. People in the Jewish quarter of the city were literally starving to death. Without the opening of the road to allow convoys of supplies to enter the city, it was almost a certainty that Jewish Jerusalem would fall to the enemy. For this reason, Ben Gurion ordered 1500 Haganna troops to take part in the operation, the largest of its kind up to that time in the battle for Palestine in 1947 and 1948.

Hamas' new methods: Multiple small attacks by unknown imported terrorists

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
September 2, 2010, 9:48 AM (GMT+02:00)

Another drive-by shooting claimed by Hamas injured Moshe and Shira Morani from Maaleh Efraim at the Rimonim junction near Ramallah Wednesday night, Sept. 1. It was exactly the same as the attack which left four Israelis dead near Hebron Tuesday night - except that the couple saved their lives by fleeing their vehicle to a nearby wadi to escape a second round of point blank fire. When finally rescued, Moshe was in serious condition.

DEBKAfile
's counter-terror sources report that although the method of attack did not vary the two incidents were the work of different Hamas cells. Several of these cells are believed to be loose on the West Bank with instructions to accompany to keep up their terrorist attacks for as long as the Washington talks between Israeli and the Palestinians continue. Some of these death squads are expected to try and cross the Green Line from the West Bank and reach targets inside Israel.

According to our sources, the IDF and Israel's security services have no leads to the perpetrators of the two attacks or their despatchers - because, they estimate, Hamas has imported terrorists from its ranks in Syria and Lebanon. These terrorists have no known ties to any Hamas branch. Neither are they listed by the Israeli and Palestinian security services. Each of these cells operates independently of the others.

So even if any of these terrorists are caught - or an individual is wounded and questioned, he will not be able to provide leads to the others.

Seven Israeli Arabs affiliated with al-Qaida and Global Jihad have been arrested for allegedly murdering a taxi driver last year, and carrying out a series of terrorist attacks, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) revealed on Monday.

In a joint police-Shin Bet operation, Ahmed Ahmed, 21, Jalib Janam, 26, Wassim Allam, 23, Khidar Ziddana, 22, Ahbed Abu-Salim, 19, Adi Azzam, 23, and Oman Kakhibi, 22, all Nazareth residents, were arrested between May 11 and June 21. All seven were indicted Monday at the Haifa District Court.

Dep.-Cmdr. Avi Elgrisi, Head of Amakim Police's Central Unit told The Jerusalem Post that "this is one of the most dangerous cells we have uncovered." The investigation was initially focused on two suspects, before being widened to include a total of seven suspects, he said, adding that police are expected to make more arrests in connection with the investigation.

The seven said that they founded a group called Aljahabiyya and claim to follow Salafism, an extremist Sunni Islamic movement. Aljahabiyya was formed two years ago, and inspired by and affiliated with al-Qaida and Global Jihad. The group underwent a process of radicalization, using material found on the Internet, including pictures of weaponry and instructions to prepare explosives and perpetrate terrorist attacks. The seven downloaded al-Qaida propaganda movies and speeches by Osama Bin Laden.

Tehran and its extremist and terrorist allies, having failed to abort Barack Obama's initiative for direct Israel-Palestinian diplomacy, have hit back with two belligerent steps. DEBKAfile's military sources disclose that Syria and the Lebanese Hizballah have set up a joint military command for sinking Israeli warships, and Hamas has brought all 13 Palestinian rejectionist organizations under one roof for a sustained bid to intensify terror operations against Israel.

At a news conference in Gaza early Friday, Sept. 3 - shortly after the Washington talks were rated positive - a Hamas military arm spokesman announced the creation of a single command encompassing all 13 Palestinian rejectionist groups operating out of the Gaza Strip and Damascus for a concerted campaign of terror against Israel.

In answer to a question, Abu Obeida said the new policy of expanded attacks may well rain missiles on Tel Aviv. "From now on, everything is open," the Hamas spokesman said.

At that moment, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was on a flight home from Washington, surrounded by an intense PR effort to present him as emerging from his first conversation with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas as a super-peacemaker. The Americans, the Palestinians and his own aides were well aware that the ceremonial inauguration of the talks had yielded very little after their goals were sharply pared down. No accord but only a document of general principles is now expected to come out of the continuation of the dialogue - once every two weeks in the coming year. This, too, would oblige Israel to withdraw from large sections of the West Bank. Further steps were relegated to the distant future.

(Israelnationalnews.com) The Hamas terrorist group declared Saturday that Jews in Judea and Samanaria are “legitimate military targets” and vowed to continue its attacks in the region.

Hamas spokesman Azat al-Ghashek told the London-based Arabic language Al-Hayat newspaper it is “natural” to hurt Jews in the region because they are “the reserve force of the occupation army on Palestinian land.”

He praised last week's murderous attack by Hamas operatives near Kiryat Arba / Hevron that left four Beit Hagai residents dead, saying it proved the Palestinian people's desire to wage war against “the Zionist enemy.” The four victims included two men, one a newlywed, and two women, one of whom was nine months pregnant.

“Hurting Zionist settlers is a natural thing... they now constitute an actual army, in the full sense of the word,” al-Ghashek told the newspaper. “They have more than a half a million automatic weapons, in addition to the basic protection granted them by the occupation army.”

On Thursday, the Reuters news agency reported that 13 Gaza terrorist groups have allegedly teamed up to launch a new round of attacks against Israeli civilians.

(Israelnationalnews.com) Ashkenazi Jews began reciting the Selichot prayers on Saturday night – the prayers asking G-d for forgiveness – a ritual that will be performed each night for the next week, until Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

Sephardic Jews began doing this nearly a month ago, at the beginning of the Hebrew month of Elul. Many Jews also have the custom of blowing the shofar each day in the month of Elul as well, to awaken Jews to the importance of repentance.

It is believed that during this period, Moses ascended to Heaven and asked for mercy for the People of Israel – and 40 days later, on the Day of Atonement, his request was accepted.

There are only four days during the 10-day period of repentance (the period which falls between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur) in which one does not recite the Selichot prayer service. These are the two days of Rosh HaShanah, the Sabbath that falls in between (Shabbat Teshuva), and Yom Kippur.

“We. Are. Family.”

This week we read two Torah portions, Nitzavim and Vayelech (Deuteronomy 29:9–31:30), beginning with the statement: “You are all standing together this day before G-d... the leaders of your tribes, your elders, your officers, all the men of Israel, your children and your wives, to pass into G-d’s covenant.”

When two individuals feel a powerful attraction to each other but realize that with the passage of time the attraction could wane, they establish a covenant. The covenant maintains their connection even at times when on a conscious level there might be reasons for distance and separation.

This portion of the Torah is read every year on the Shabbat before Rosh Hashanah – the Jewish New Year, because on Rosh Hashanah, the covenant between G-d and the Jewish people is renewed. On Rosh Hashanah we “are all standing... before G-d.” The essential G-dly core which every person possesses arises to the forefront of his consciousness, and the fundamental bond between G-d and humankind surfaces. On this basis a covenant is renewed for the entire year to come, including the inevitable occasions when these feelings of oneness will not be experienced as powerfully.

PARSHAT VAYELECH - The Meaning of Hakhel

BS"D

Shalom Friends,
We are all broken due to the horrible terrorist attack last night. The in-laws of the young man who was killed live in Efrat and one of the women killed in the attack was a teacher here.
May Am Yisrael merit true peace and complete redemption.
besorot tovot, Shabbat Shalom, Rav Zvi

In Parshat Vayelech we read about the mitzvah of Hakhel, in which, on the Sukkot after Shemittah [the Sabbatical year], all of Am Yisrael, including men, women, and children, gather in the Temple, where the king reads portions of the Torah to the public.  All of the people reaccept the covenant in a ceremony that some commentators describe as a reenactment of the giving of the Torah. If this is the case, why is Hakhel held on Sukkot?  Surely Shavuot would have been more appropriate.

The Mai HaShiloach gives a fascinating answer.  At the end of the Shemittah year, during which everyone has dedicated themselves to spiritual pursuits, there may be a natural tendency to jump on the tractor, get to work in the field and … forget what one learned during Shemittah.  The Torah gives us the mitzvah of Hakhel, precisely when the demands of making a living may cause us to forget the spiritual lessons that took a year to learn.  Hakhel reminds us that the work we are setting out to do must also be dedicated to Heaven.

Jews killed where Obama demanded removal of checkpoints

George Mitchell, the White House envoy to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, specifically requested that Israel remove roadblocks and checkpoints as a confidence-building gesture to restart talks with the PA

JERUSALEM – Today's deadly terror attack that killed four people took place on a road where the Israeli government removed staffed anti-terror checkpoints in line with requests from the Obama administration, WND has learned.

As President Obama was preparing for a Washington summit with the Israeli and Palestinian leaders, Palestinian terrorists today carried out a shooting attack, killing two Jewish men and two women, one of whom was pregnant.

The attack took place in the West Bank just south of the entrance to Kiryat Arba, near the historic biblical city of Hebron.

Israeli security officials say the terrorist shooting was a coordinated ambush.

The New Netanyahu?

"...When Palestinian terrorists gun down innocent people on the highway simply because they are Jews, the public's reasoned response is to say that the Palestinians do not want peace. The public's wholly rational reaction to this act of anti-Jewish butchery is to insist that Jews should not be denied our basic civil and human rights in a dangerous bid to appease murderers."

"...The most distressing aspect of Netanyahu's enthusiastic participation in a process the Israeli public rationally opposes is that it is him doing it. With Netanyahu now joining the ranks of those that attack Israel's defenders as enemies of peace and claim that defending the country is antithetical to peace, who is left to defend us?"

Despite a multi-million dollar media blitz, Israelis are not buying the US-financed Geneva Initiative's attempt to convince us that we have a Palestinian partner. A week after the pro-Palestinian group launched its massive online promotion urging people to join its Facebook page, a mere 634 people had answered the call.

The US-funded agitprop involved ads in which senior Fatah propagandists were featured telling Israelis we can trust them this time around. The reason for its failure was made clear by a public opinion poll taken Tuesday night for Channel 10. When asked if they believed that Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas is serious about making peace with Israel, two-thirds of Israelis said no. Only 23 percent said he was serious and 17 percent said they didn't know.

Last night Obama delivered a speech about a war that he exploited for political advantage during the election, and ignored the rest of the time. A war that he tried to sabotage as a Senator, and neglected once in the White House. Where Bush conducted constant conferences with commanders in the field, Obama has let the clashing egos of former Clinton Administration staffers, and a few imported radicals, determine how the war will be conducted. Of all the charges leveled at Bush over the war, he could never be accused of just not giving a damn. Yet that is exactly the case with Obama. He just doesn't give a damn.

While US soldiers are still dying in Iraq, Obama did his best to take credit for ending combat operations. And used his speech as a opportunity to show off his new Oval Office decor. The level of tone deafness involved in using a wartime speech to show off your new office furnishings, while most Americans are cutting back is completely incomprehensible. It shows a profound contempt for both topic and audience, and a self-involvement that borders on the pathological. It's as if Obama only managed to interrupt his countless rounds of golf and his vacations, just to put on his best sad face and show off his new rug.

Brandeis University’s Maurice and Marilyn Cohen’s Center for Modern Jewish studies is out with a survey on American Jewish attitudes toward Israel. The lengthy report is certainly worth reviewing in its entirety. I will highlight a few findings as well as some of the conclusions that the study’s authors draw. One caveat: the study as released does not break down responses by denomination (Orthodox, Conservative, Reform). I have e-mailed the center asking if such material is available and will certainly report back with the response I receive.

The study begins by telling us:

NY Demo: 'Peace, Peace, but There Is No Peace'

Dozens of Jewish supporters of Israel gathered across the street from the Israeli Consulate in New York City, on Thursday evening, September 2nd, to call upon Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to "just say no to demands for more concessions from Israel that will continue to endanger the lives of Jews throughout Israel." Organized by Helen Freedman of Americans For A Safe Israel, the demonstration came at the end of the first round of direct peace talks between Prime Minister Netanyahu, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and US President Barack Obama at the White House.

US Middle East envoy George Mitchell along with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met with Abbas and  Netanyahu met for 90 minutes, with the two leaders pledging to work together to maintain security and reiterating their goal of a two-state solution. The three-way meeting was "long and productive," Mr Mitchell said, adding the leaders pledged to work in "good faith" and with "seriousness of purpose." He said Mr. Netanyahu and Mr Abbas then went off on their own for a one-on-one meeting, which may be designed to build trust between the two leaders. There were no notetakers or translators in either of the meetings.

The US sponsored peace talks come on the heels of the heinous murder of four Jews in the Hebron region on August 31st. Talya and Yitzchok Imas, Kochava Even-Chaim and Avishai Shindler were gunned down in cold blood by Hamas terrorists at the Bani Naim junction just south of Hebron. This was followed by yet another drive-by shooting on Route 60 between the Rimonim Junction and the Jewish community of Kochav HaShachar in the Binyamin region of Samaria that left Rabbi Moshe Moreno and his wife Shira moderately wounded. A Fatah cell calling itself the Al-Namir cells of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack as did Hamas.

After attack, Yishai to ease settlers’ gun controls

Move comes after it emerges that one of the victims had his gun permit revoked months prior to the attack.

Interior Minister Eli Yishai moved Wednesday to relax gun controls for West Bank residents after it emerged that Yitzhak Ames, one of four people killed in Tuesday night’s terrorist attack near Hebron, had his weapons permit revoked a few months prior to being murdered.

Yishai requested that Populations Registry head Amnon Ben-Ami act to relax conditions, including allowing settlers to acquire weapons without police approval, relying instead on professional opinions from the Interior Ministry, the Population Registry and the Immigration Authority.

Ames had been licensed to carry a weapon through his employment as a security guard. Approximately six months ago, Ames’s weapon permit was suspended, allegedly due to his involvement in public disturbances.

“I instructed to immediately relax the registration of weapons to residents of Judea and Samaria,” Yishai explained Wednesday.

Within a few hours of Tuesday night’s terror attack, in which Ames and his wife as well as two other residents of Beit Hagai were gunned down near Kiryat Arba by Palestinian terrorists, settlers’ advocates railed against the fact that Ames’s personal weapon had been seized in late 2009.

Rabbi Kahane ''On a Mountain, With A Trumpet''

“But if the watchman see the sword come and blow not the trumpet and the people be not warned; if the sword cometh and take from them a soul…his blood will I require from the watchman”.  (Ezekiel 33)

I sit on the mountain with a trumpet in my hand.  We all sit on a mountain, each of us a watchman with a trumpet in hand.  Our mission is to sit and see the enemy.  Our mission is to see the danger, to search our own souls and to blow the trumpet and warn the rest – the rest of the Jewish people.

I sit on a mountain as the sands slip through, the clock ticks away and the Almighty watches from above to see whether the sleeping Jew will awake on top of the mountain to see the enemy and blow the trumpet and save himself and all the rest and reclaim his greatness and his destiny before there are no more years left.

We are all watchmen, we Jews.  We are commanded to know the danger, to see it approach, to blow the trumpet and save, both ourselves and our fellow Jews.

How possible to sit on a mountain and behave like valleys! How incredible that we sit on high, seeing all that is below, and sees nothing!  How awful that the watchman sleeps even as the enemy grows bolder and comes closer and the clock that ticks, rings its alarm, shrilly, without pause, and he hears nothing.  We are a nation of watchmen on a hill and we sleep the sleep of the mediocre fool.  “Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest; so shall thy poverty come as one who travels and they want as an armed man.” (Proverbs 6)

I sit on the mountain and, behold, the enemy, the terrible dangers, are in full view.  There they are, there they approach, those who travel, as armed men.  Jew, can you not see them:

There Will Be No Peace

On Monday all the talk in the news was of an Israeli Rabbi who had called on G-d to strike down Abbas, the head of the terrorist Palestinian Authority, and the rest of his gang. On Tuesday, terrorists murdered a pregnant woman and three other people. The same media that dedicated a great deal of time and energy to condemning Rabbi Yosef for inciting violence, wasted no such time on discussing the constant incitement to violence practiced by the Palestinian Authority media under Abbas' authority. Earlier this month Abbas had participated in a ceremony honoring the Munich Massacre terrorists. But the media has never been particularly interested in discussing Muslims calls to violence, only in tarring any opponents of Muslim terrorism in the darkest and ugliest shades.

The murder of four Israelis and an unborn child was described not in terms of their human toll, but their political toll. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs condemned the terrorists as "enemies of peace". The six orphans no doubt thank him for his concern for "peace". State Department spokesman PJ Crowley dispensed with the human side entirely, warning that, "There may well be actors in the region who are deliberately making these kinds of attacks in order to try to sabotage the process". A statement that could have been produced by a particularly unfeeling computer.
