The residents notified the IDF. A resident, Uri Arnon, told the Tazpit News Agency: "I felt we were going back 75 years, losing our hold on the land. The Arabs no longer feel the need to hide their murderous tendencies, announcing out loud that they wish to annihilate us." An IDF spokesman said that the flag was hung on an electrical line, and that they were waiting to professionals to come and remove it. [end]

80% of Israelis Support Sovereignty in Judea, Samaria

Poll shows overwhelming support extending Israeli sovereignty to the Biblical heartland. A poll by the Geocartography Institute shows that 80% of the Israeli public supports the extension of Israeli sovereignty to the Biblical heartland of Judea and Samaria.
The poll will be presented at a conference at Ariel University, at the end of the month. Over one third of the public thinks that sovereignty should be extended to the entire area of Judea and Samaria, while almost 25% believe that the sovereignty should be limited to the so-called settlement blocs. Only 20% of the public said that the sovereignty should only be extended as part of a peace deal with the Arabs. The support for the idea of sovereignty is not limited to the nationalist part of the political spectrum. About 60% of the respondents who defined their views as leftist agreed "to some extent" with the statement that Israel should extend its sovereignty to at least part of Judea and Samaria. 42% of those who defined themselves as leftist agreed to some extent with the statement that international law should recognize Israel's sovereignty in Judea and Samaria.

MK Yogev: IDF Should Fire on Terrorists

[ JewishIndy Editor: The shooters shouldn't have been there in the first place! Israel allows bloodthirsty enemies to live within Israel and attack Jews all day every day. The enemy is the government of Israel! GET THE DAMNED ARABS OUT OF ISRAEL, ALREADY! The continued presence of Arabs in Israel is an abomination and a blasphemy. Israel is not their home and they have no right to be there - especially as resident enemies who keep trying to kill us - all day, every day. The Arabs must be removed from Israel, period! All efforts to prevent this are treason. "Imagine" a Jewish homeland where our Arab enemies were kept outside and could only attack us from outside of our country! "Visualize" an Israel where the government did not tolerate daily attacks on its people by enemies living in our faces! This will happen if we take our country back, ...or, when the Messiah comes.] Bayit Yehudi's MK Moti Yogev hopes new defense minister will change rules of engagement.
Bayit Yehudi's MK Moti Yogev, a colonel in the reserves and ex-commander of an elite infantry unit, thinks the new minister of defense will toughen up the rules of engagement against terrorists in Judea and Samaria. Yogev told Arutz Sheva that Monday morning's shooting attack near Kedumim is a result of the IDF's laxness vis-à-vis other forms of terror. "The event in Samaria is, in effect, a development from events where rules of engagement were changed," Yogev said. "If we are willing to contain rock attacks, then the fire bombs follow. If we are lax on fire bombs, then we experience the gunfire. This is how it was in the past, and this is apparently what is happening now. "I want to wish a quick recovery to the wounded man, and I hope that the IDF, under the new incoming defense minister, whom we wish great success in his role, Minister Moshe Yaalon, together with the new deputy defense minister, Danny Danon, will set a policy that will make clear, first, that the Land of Israel belongs to the nation of Israel, and this policy is also what gives us quiet from terror attacks, and that he will set a clear policy regarding rules of engagement, and the all-out war against the terrorists.

For the first time ever, they said, fire bombs were thrown at police on the Mount, and one policeman caught fire and miraculously suffered only slight wounds.
Police knew in advance of the intention to carry out severe violence but did not limit the age of worshipers allowed to enter or stay on the Mount, even after violence had broken out, the groups charged. Videos posted by Muslims show police refraining from quelling the violence, the Temple groups said. The security system has submitted to Netanyahu its recommendations for goodwill gestures, with the stated proviso that these would not endanger the PM's own political future. Sources in Netanyahu's circle explained that the gestures are of a political nature, intended to ease the hardships the Palestinian Authority is facing, generating a positive public image for Israel at a relatively low political cost. A similar package has previously been discussed at least in part in talks between Middle East Quartet envoy Tony Blair and Netanyahu. At the time, the Prime Minister refused these ideas. One of the gestures in discussion is a specific transfer of land from Area C in the West Bank (which is under full Israeli control) to an Area A status (full Palestinian control). This concerns the transfer of the access roads planned to serve the new city of Rawabi, the first Palestinian planned city under PA rule, near Birzeit and Ramallah, with 10,000 homes, with a population of 40,000. Another road that would be turned over to full Palestinian control serves the industrial park outside Tulkarm.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the suspension of all new construction procedures in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria until after U.S. President Barack Obama's visit to Israel, on the eve of Passover, Makor Rishon reports.
According to a directive that was passed from the PM's office to the appropriate echelons at the defense and housing ministries, in the next few weeks no new construction bids are to be issued in those three areas. Also, plans whose planning phase has been completed will not move on to the deposit phase while all additional bureaucratic steps concerning their public offering are to be delayed as well.
The suspension directive was issued through informal channels. Prime Minister Netanyahu, who conducted the phone calls with the relevant officials personally, emphasized that this is not a freeze—like the 10-month settlement construction freeze Netanyahu declared in November, 2010-—but "merely a temporary suspension in order not to embarrass the visiting president."

According to the unverified report, the members of the Likud’s coalition negotiation team have made it clear to MK Uri Ariel, who heads the coalition talks on behalf of the Bayit Yehudi party, that the new the government, when formed, will immediately freeze construction in all areas of Judea and Samaria outside the so-called “settlement blocs.” The Channel 2 report explained that Netanyahu has a bone to pick with the residents of Judea and Samaria because of their tendency in recent years to become members of the Likud even though they do not intend to actually vote for the Likud in the election. Netanyahu is reportedly upset because these residents participate in large numbers in the party’s primaries so they can bring in candidates that are considered more right-wing to high-ranking spots on the party's Knesset list. When election day comes, however, they do not vote for the Likud.

Despite promises by the government that things would change soon, residents of southern Tel Aviv say that authorities are doing next to nothing to rid their neighborhood of illegal immigrants from Africa and Asia. At a protest in the neighborhood this week, City Council member Shlomo Maslawi said that South Tel Aviv has turned into a “paradise for illegals.”
Among the places where the activity of illegals is most easily identified are the bars and restaurants they frequent in the neighborhood, said Maslawi – places police never patrol or enter. There is absolutely no enforcement of the law in these areas,” he said.
Illegals are still entering the country, despite the completion of the security fence in southern Israel. “And they are all converging on South Tel Aviv,” said Maslawi. “There about 70,000 of them here. They have an economic base here, with their friends and families joining them. The numbers grow daily,” he said.

Study: Disengagement Protesters Suffered Trauma Syndrome

The 2006 disengagement continues to have a major impact on Israeli society, a study shows [ JewishIndy Editor: Yes, and Sharon is still a vegetable. Baruch Dayan Emet.] Seven years later, the disengagement that saw more than 10,000 Jews out of their homes in Gush Katif and northern Samaria continues to have a major impact on Israeli society. In a new study, Dr. Tal Har-Shoshanim of the Orot Yisrael Institute showed that many of the youths who were in Gush Katif at the time of the disengagement to protest – and were not residents themselves – suffered a similar level of “post-traumatic stress” as did youths who lived in Gush Katif.
The study included 500 religious youths, including students and graduates of schools in the National Religious system who were involved in some measure in protesting the disengagement. The participants were classified in four groups: Teenagers and young adults who were residents of Gush Katif at the time of the disengagement, individuals who present in Gush Katif at the time of the disengagement but did not live there, individuals who were involved in protests but were not present during the disengagement, and a group that was not involved at all. The study found, as expected, that some 70% of the youths who were residents of Gush Katif suffered post-traumatic distress syndrome after they were thrown out of their homes. Har-Shoshanim expected that the other groups would show lesser levels of the syndrome, as they were more removed from the events – but was surprised to find that even among protesters who did not live in Gush Katif but were present during the disengagement, the level of stress was just as high as for residents.

The coalition agreement between the Likud Beytenu and Livni’s party “is a worrying move designed to raise again the flag of the peace process while running away from issues such as equal burden of service and social issues,” Katzover told Arutz Sheva. "Livni supports a construction freeze except in the so-called ‘settlement blocs'. It once again places question marks over the future of 150 thousand Jews and over 95 percent of the areas of Judea and Samaria. Tzipi Livni’s decision to join Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is the first bombshell of the post-election, coalition-building season: In a reversal of her pre-Election Day stance, the woman who went on TV to implore the heads of the two leading center-left parties to join her and build an alliance to thwart the unsuitable Netanyahu’s return to the prime ministership is now the first to join the coalition, all but ensuring that Netanyahu will retain the post. This is the same Livni who passed up the opportunity to lead the nation after her Kadima party leader Ehud Olmert resigned as prime minister more than four years ago because she wouldn’t cut a deal with Shas. Now she’ll be a junior player in a coalition led by her bitter rival, almost certainly with Shas, which is applauding her trailblazing move and preparing to follow suit.

|

An Arab gang kidnapped a 70-year-old Israel cabbie, beat him, and threw him out along the road to Ramallah. By Maayana Miskin Arutz Sheva Adar 10, 5773, 20/02/13 01:59 Two Palestinian Authority resident Arab men have been arrested in connection to the kidnapping and beating of an elderly Israeli cab driver. The attack in question took place in January, but was under a gag order until Wednesday.
The attack began when the cab driver, 70, picked up three Arab men as passengers. The three asked him to stop, then pounced on him and tied a rope around his neck and beat him. They then threw him in the back seat of the car and took off toward Ramallah. At some point they stopped and hurled him from the car at the side of the highway. The badly injured cabbie managed to make his way to a Palestinian Authority police station, where he was given emergency first aid and then sent back to Israeli territory, where he was hospitalized in moderate-to-serious condition.

Netanyahu: Building Freeze? No Way
|
Posted by jewishindy on Thursday, February 07 @ 14:06:14 EST (262 reads)
Prime Minister denies reports that a freeze is in the cards as Obama prepares to visit. By Gil Ronen Arutz Sheva Shevat 27, 5773, 07/02/13 08:47 Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu made clear Thursday that Israel will not agree to a freeze on Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria as a precondition for negotiations with the Palestinian Authority.
According to Channel 2, sources close to Netanyahu said that reports regarding this matter "do not reflect reality." Reports about a possible building freeze began after news of a planned visit by President Barack Obama to Israel became known. Haaretz (pronounced huh-aah-retz), a generally anti-Israeli newspaper published in Israel, reported Thursday that National Security Adviser Yaakov Amidror said in closed conversations that construction for Jews in Judea and Samaria "causes Israel to lose the support of its greatest friends in the West."

Iran is ready to march on Israel and “wipe it out” if Jewish state strikes, Ahmadinejad said in his latest anti-Semitic diatribe.
By Rachel Hirshfeld Arutz Sheva Shevat 26, 5773, 06/02/13 05:00 The Iranian people are ready to march on Israel to “wipe it out” if the Jewish state attacks the Islamic republic, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in his latest anti-Semitic diatribe, published Wednesday by Egypt’s state news agency.
“The people of Iran are ready to march on Israel to wipe it out if it launches into an adventure against Tehran” and attacks the country, the Iranian president told Egyptian media, according to excerpts published by MENA.
“The Zionists... hope to aggress Iran and attack it, but they are very afraid of the Iranian reaction and of the consequences of such an attack,” he said in the Arabic transcription of the comments made during a visit to Egypt, cited by AFP.
“Our defense forces are capable of dissuading any aggressor and making him regret his act,” Ahmadinejad said.

Report: Region's Armies All on High Alert
|
Posted by jewishindy on Monday, February 04 @ 08:52:52 EST (184 reads)
The armies of Syria, Lebanon and Jordan are all on high alert, a report in a Lebanese newspaper said Sunday. By David Lev Arutz Sheva Shevat 23, 5773, 03/02/13 04:21 The armies of Syria, Lebanon and Jordan are all on high alert, a report in a Lebanese newspaper said Sunday. The report in Ad-Diar said that the alerts were due to Israel's attack on a Syrian missile transport and, according to Syrian claims, an attack on a sensitive Syrian military installation.
The report said that the Syrian army has instructed its units to break up into smaller groups, “similar to what Hizbullah has done in south Lebanon.” The strategy is designed to protect troops in the wake of another possible Israeli attack, the report said. The report added that Syrian troops had joined Hizbullah terrorists in several areas of south Lebanon. According to the report, the Syrian and Hizbullah forces were stationed very close to the Israeli border, in the area of Har Dov (also known as “Sheba Farms”). The Lebanese and Jordanian armies are also on high alert over the possibility of a clash between Israel and Syria in the area. Unconfirmed Lebanese reports said that Israeli warplanes had been seen over Lebanon earlier Sunday.

Israel Carries Out Strikes Against Syrian Chemical Warfare Program
|
Posted by jewishindy on Friday, February 01 @ 09:07:46 EST (175 reads)
By Daniel Greenfield Frontpage Magazine
January 30, 2013 This story is still developing with contradictory reports in the air, but it would appear that Israeli jets struck targets inside Syria. There are report of a strike on a convoy headed from Syria into Lebanon, possibly carrying long range rockets and chemical weapons to Hezbollah, as well as on a military research center in Jamraya possibly linked to the SSRC, the organization that runs Syria’s WMD and long range strike programs. These two events may be related, as Israel had warned Assad that transferring WMD’s to Hezbollah would be considered a red line. If Assad tried to covertly cross that red line, hoping that Israel wouldn’t know, he miscalculated badly, and that violation led to a further attack against an SSRC facility, possibly as a warning. Israeli warplanes attacked a military research center in Damascus province at dawn on Wednesday, Syria’s military command said, denying reports that the planes had struck a convoy carrying weapons from Syria to Lebanon.
Two people were killed and five wounded in the attack on the site in Jamraya, which it described as one of a number of “scientific research centers aimed at raising the level of resistance and self-defense.”
The building was destroyed, the military command said in a statement carried by state media.

Letter Proves Building Freeze in Jerusalem Neighborhood
|
Posted by jewishindy on Friday, February 01 @ 08:53:52 EST (145 reads)
A letter by a senior official says political considerations prevent Jewish construction in the Shimon HaTzaddik neighborhood. By Annie Lubin Arutz Sheva Shevat 19, 5773, 30/01/13 09:20 Rumors, leaks and hearsay have been replaced by an official document by a senior official admitting that political considerations have and will prevent Jewish construction in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Shimon HaTzaddik, located north of the Old City.
Plans for additional housing for Jews in the now majority-Arab neighborhood (known in Arabic as Sheikh Jarrah) have become stalled, and a letter written by Yaniv Benita, Assistant to Interior Minister Eli Yishai, inadvertently explains why.
In the letter, Beinta claimed that construction in the neighborhood would not be carried out due to what he termed political prevention.
For a long time now, residents of the neighborhood have tried to attain permits to construct Jewish homes and buildings while at the same time Arabs in the neighborhood were given permits for their own construction.
