Syrian state television said Israeli rockets had struck a military research center on the outskirts of the capital city. Other sources say Israel hit Iranian Fateh-110 surface to surface missiles on route to Hezbollah.
Hezbollah's Manar television station reported, citing security sources in Damascus, that an Israeli warplane was shot down by Syrian air-defense units during the raid. There was no independent confirmation of the claim and Israel did not comment on the raid reports.
In response to the Syrian clain, the Free Syria Media Hub (sarcastically?) claimed on Twitter, "#sana tv crew caught painting an old mig fighter tail with israeli airforce markings near #damascus". Sana is the Syrian government controlled TV station.

There were many reports that Israeli jets flew over Syrian President's palace on Saturday, but did they also bomb a chemical weapons site nearby?

According to reports from the main Syrian opposition group, the Free Syria Army, the Israeli Air Force bombed a chemical weapons site in Syria, near Damascus, on Saturday, April 27.
The Israeli jets flew over Syrian President Basher Assad's palace, as reported elsewhere, and then allegedly struck a chemical weapons compound nearby.
Although there were reports that Syrian defense forces fired at the IAF, the Israeli jets left Syrian airspace unharmed.

An expert on terrorism says the Saudi national who was the original “person of interest” in connection with Monday’s Boston Marathon bombing is going to be deported from the U.S. next week.
The foreign student from Revere, Mass., is identified as 20-year-old Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi.
“I just learned from my own sources that he is now going to be deported on national security grounds next Tuesday, which is very unusual,” Steve Emerson of the Investigative Project on Terrorism told Sean Hannity of Fox News Wednesday night. The Reuters news agency reported President Barack Obama met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal on Wednesday, noting “the meeting was not on Obama’s public schedule.” After that meeting was mentioned, Emerson told Hannity, “That’s very interesting because this is the way things are done with Saudi Arabia. You don’t arrest their citizens. You deport them, because they don’t want them to be embarrassed and that’s the way we appease them.”

FBI Special Agent Richard Deslauriers told reporters Tuesday, April 16, that the probe had no leads 18 hours after two explosions blew up at the annual Boston Marathon’s finishing line, killing three people and injuring 176 – 17 critically. debkafile’s counterterrorism sources can disclose however that the investigation has in fact homed in on a suspected terror cell of three Saudi nationals, very possibly tied to Al Qaeda.
The flat they share in the Revere, Massachusetts, near Boston, was searched after the questioning of one of the suspects, a Saudi student, who was hospitalized with badly burned hands. One of his flatmates was taken into custody over “visa problems.” A third is on the run. All three hail from a prominent Saudi family belonging to a tribe from the Asir province bordering on Yemen.
The search for the wanted man led to the grounding of a plane at Logan International Airport Tuesday. The investigation has meanwhile broadened out to places in and outside Boston in a search for the cell’s accomplices.
The origins of the Saudi cell, if confirmed, strongly suggest that Al Qaeda of Arabia – AQAP –succeeded in planting a cell in the United States for the bombing attack in Boston – and possibly more than one in other parts of the US. Asir Province is known as a hotbed of resistance to the Saudi throne in Riyadh.
US law enforcement authorities in charge of the probe are refusing to confirm any suspects are in custody, or even leads to whoever carried out the bombings. President Barack Obama said in his second statement in 24 hours: “…we don’t know if who was behind the bombings were foreign, domestic or individual.” The President was forced to admit for the first time that the FBI was investigating “an act of terror.”
Debkafile earlier Tuesday was alone in reporting that the FBI Boston Marathon probe pointed to Mid-East terrorists with domestic support.

In his first conversation of three hours with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Day One, March 20, of US President Barack Obama’s visit to Israel, the two leaders finally put to rest their long dispute over a unilateral Israeli strike against Iran’s nuclear sites.
In their news conference that night, both reiterated the principle that Israel has the right to independently defend itself against a perceived palpable threat from Iran - even if Washington does not share that perception.
The practical application of this principle was rather different: Obama and Netanyahu spoke highly and repeatedly of the close military and intelligence cooperation their governments had developed and which they would hate above all to jeopardize.
Obama: “There’s not much daylight between us on where Iran is at. Israel is differently situated than us. I would not expect Israel to defer to anyone in its decisions on this.” Netanyahu: “We do have a common intelligence assessment on this. Although the US and Israel have different vulnerabilities and capabilities… there is no argument… I am absolutely convinced that Obama is committed to preventing Iran obtaining a nuclear bomb.”
He added: “Iran has not yet reached the red line I defined in my UN speech, but it is getting closer all the time.”
The impression they both conveyed was that Israel’s right to strike Iran would be respected but not pursued without prior consultation with Washington.

March 15, 2013  The real purpose of Obama’s visit to Israel is to give a “high profile” speech to the “youth” of Israel calling for a renewed push for peace and framing Israel’s relationship with the United States in terms of the peace process. In 2008, Bush visited Israel and addressed the Knesset, Israel’s parliament. Back then he began with, “It is a rare privilege for an American President to address the Knesset. Although the Prime Minister told me there is something even rarer – to have just one person in this chamber speaking at a time.” Clinton addressed the Knesset in 1994. Even Carter did it in 1979. Neither Reagan nor Bush I traveled to Israel and so the issue never came up. It’s certainly not mandatory, but it’s common protocol. Obama addressed the British Parliament on his visit. He also found the time to address the Parliament of Ghana, the Indian Parliament and the Australian Parliament… so it’s clearly something that he does.

U.S. to let spy agencies scour Americans' finances

NEW YORK/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Obama administration is drawing up plans to give all U.S. spy agencies full access to a massive database that contains financial data on American citizens and others who bank in the country, according to a Treasury Department document seen by Reuters.
The proposed plan represents a major step by U.S. intelligence agencies to spot and track down terrorist networks and crime syndicates by bringing together financial databanks, criminal records and military intelligence. The plan, which legal experts say is permissible under U.S. law, is nonetheless likely to trigger intense criticism from privacy advocates.
Financial institutions that operate in the United States are required by law to file reports of "suspicious customer activity," such as large money transfers or unusually structured bank accounts, to Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).
The Federal Bureau of Investigation already has full access to the database. However, intelligence agencies, such as the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency, currently have to make case-by-case requests for information to FinCEN.

March 13, 2013 Obama has made it clear all along that he is interested in the Muslim side, not the Jewish side. His allies in the Jewish community are all leftist Anti-Israel groups such as J Street. He has little to no relationship with mainstream pro-Israel leaders. But h e has extensive ties to the Islamist crowd. President Barack Obama met with several controversial anti-Israel Arab groups ahead of his visit to the Jewish state on March 20.
Obama held an “intimate” gathering Monday with Arab American leaders and others to solicit advice and ask questions in preparation for his visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories next week.
I doubt there was a similar meeting with Jewish leaders before a trip to Saudi Arabia, but hey the man did say that he would stand with the Muslims. That’s one place where he kept his word. Included in the meeting was Haris Tarin, D.C. director of the controversial Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), a Muslim-American group that has falsely accused Israel of harvesting Palestinian organs and has asked for Hamas and Hezbollah to be removed from the list of United States-designated terror groups.

Ettinger returned this week from a four-week trip to the U.S., where he visited nine cities and met with members of Congress and the Senate. “There’s no doubt that there’s potential for a lot more support than we’re seeing today,” he opined. “In Jewish and Christian circles, but also in politics and the media, many struggle to understand the purpose of Israeli concessions and Israeli policy toward the Palestinians.” “Likewise, most of those I met were upset with President Obama for not treating the state of Israel properly,” he added. “There’s a growing appreciation for Israel. More people understand that the United States has one ally that is loyal, stable, and democratic,” Ettinger explained.

Former Newark Airport TSA screener says the job does little to keep fliers safe

It is perhaps America’s most unsafe airport. Despite being the launching point for one of the planes hijacked on 9/11 — Flight 93, which crashed in Pennsylvania — Newark Airport has had numerous security violations since. The latest: a fake bomb that made it past Transportation Security Administration officers. Here, a Newark TSA screener who recently left the agency tells how silly policies and lazy workers do little to stop real threats:
A LOT of what we do is make-believe.
I’ve had to screen small children and explain to their parents I had no choice but to “check” them. I would only place my hands on their arms and bottom half of their legs, and the entire “pat-down” lasted 10 seconds. This goes completely against TSA procedure.
Because the cameras are recording our every move, we have to do something. If someone isn’t checked or even screened properly, the entire terminal would shut down, as this constitutes a security breach. But since most TSA supervisors are too daft to actually supervise, bending the rules is easy to do. Did you know you don’t need a high-school diploma or GED to work as a security screener? These are the same screeners that TSA chief John Pistole and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano refer to as a first-class first line of defense in the war on terror. These are the employees who could never keep a job in the private sector. I wouldn’t trust them to walk my dog.

March 4, 2013 A Council on American-Islamic Relations leader told a crowd at a rally for Islam that members of the faith should not be bound by American law.
“If we are practicing Muslims, we are above the law of the land,” said Mustafa Carroll, executive director of the Dallas-Fort Worth CAIR branch.
The rally in Austin was part of a nationwide effort to hold “Muslim Capitol Day” events. The event included a speech by a representative of Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, who declared that Texas was an awful place and that Islam was the answer. “Why did Muhammad say that he would not rest until the Koran was the law of the land?”
“Islam does not have Texas in the current condition, the current socio-political condition that Texas is in. What is this condition that Texas is in? Why is Texas on the brink, when you look at Texas in comparison to 50 states, education, percent of population graduating from high school is 46, high school completion rate is 46, the scholastic assessment rate, the SAT score in Texas is 47, the percentage of population with no health insurance in Texas is first, those without health insurance Texas is first. When you look at the state of a child in Texas, the percentage of uninsured children, Texas is first… etc etc
You shouldn’t be filing legislation against Islam, when you look at Texas, Islam is not the problem. Islam is the solution. Allah Akbar.”
Clearly when we look at the literacy rates and health insurance rates in the Muslim world, we cannot help but see that Islam is the answer. That is assuming the question is how can we make Texas more like Somalia or Egypt.

Hagel Takes Over at Pentagon, Gives Bizarre Rambling Speech

March 2, 2013  The real question is whether the former Senator from Nebraska and Tehran gives any other kind of speeches. At the Department of Defense, Hagel gave a rambling speech in which he graciously informed the Pentagon that they were not joining his team, he was joining their team. Then Hagel proceeded to share deep insights such as these from the bottomless pit of his intellect. We are living in a very defining time in the world. You all know that. It’s a difficult time. It’s a time of tremendous challenge. But there are opportunities. And I think it’s important that we all stay focused, obviously, on our jobs, on our responsibilities, which are immense, but not lose sight of the possibilities for a better world.
Staying focused is clearly a problem for Chuck. If there’s one thing America has stood for more than any one thing, is that we are a force for good. We make mistakes. We’ve made mistakes. We’ll continue to make mistakes. But we are a force for good.
I think Hagel might be confusing America with himself. Should the Secretary of Defense commence by announcing that America is a well-meaning bumbling idiot?

THIRTEEN years ago, researchers at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum began the grim task of documenting all the ghettos, slave labor sites, concentration camps and killing factories that the Nazis set up throughout Europe.
What they have found so far has shocked even scholars steeped in the history of the Holocaust.
The researchers have cataloged some 42,500 Nazi ghettos and camps throughout Europe, spanning German-controlled areas from France to Russia and Germany itself, during Hitler’s reign of brutality from 1933 to 1945.
The figure is so staggering that even fellow Holocaust scholars had to make sure they had heard it correctly when the lead researchers previewed their findings at an academic forum in late January at the German Historical Institute in Washington.
“The numbers are so much higher than what we originally thought,” Hartmut Berghoff, director of the institute, said in an interview after learning of the new data.

February 28, 2013 Obama’s pick to head the CIA was involved in crafting controversial talking points about last year’s attack in Benghazi, Republicans said Tuesday after viewing intelligence documents.
Lawmakers had vowed to block John Brennan’s nomination unless they got to see internal communications about how to describe the attack that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. Several said the email chain of several pages, which they’d been seeking for months, doesn’t change how they plan to vote either way.
“Brennan was involved,” Senate Intelligence Committee Vice-Chairman Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) said after the briefing. “It’s pretty obvious what happened.”
So Brennan isn’t actually any good at cover-ups. So maybe he isn’t qualified to be CIA Director after all. Good thing no one actually died in Benghazi or this would be a really serious issue.

As expected, the report pointed the finger at the Israeli Mossad as being behind the operation. According to Al-Akhbar, as soon as the 2006 Second Lebanon War ended, Hizbullah began the largest operation to restore its military organization and raise the level of its readiness and weaponry. Mughniyeh was put in charge of developing and enhancing the military abilities of the group in Lebanon. This was in addition to his responsibility for implementing a decision made at the highest levels in Iran, Syria, and Lebanon to supply the terror group with all the lessons and experiences of war, as well as oversee the creation of a bridge for logistical support, especially with Gaza.

It happened right before Obama delivered his State of the Union address they said. The funny thing was that it happened last Tuesday but was not reported until Saturday. Yes, the Blaze is right. There was a message. NBC and others would have been on time with the news if they had listened closer to Putin rather than kissing Obama's behind and following Soros' orders. A confidential Justice Department memo concludes that the U.S. government can order the killing of American citizens if they are believed to be “senior operational leaders” of al-Qaida or “an associated force” -- even if there is no intelligence indicating they are engaged in an active plot to attack the U.S.
The 16-page memo, a copy of which was obtained by NBC News, provides new details about the legal reasoning behind one of the Obama administration’s most secretive and controversial polices: its dramatically increased use of drone strikes against al-Qaida suspects abroad, including those aimed at American citizens, such as the September 2011 strike in Yemen that killed alleged al-Qaida operatives Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan. Both were U.S. citizens who had never been indicted by the U.S. government nor charged with any crimes.
The secrecy surrounding such strikes is fast emerging as a central issue in this week’s hearing of White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan, a key architect of the drone campaign, to be CIA director. Brennan was the first administration official to publicly acknowledge drone strikes in a speech last year, calling them “consistent with the inherent right of self-defense.” In a separate talk at the Northwestern University Law School in March, Attorney General Eric Holder specifically endorsed the constitutionality of targeted killings of Americans, saying they could be justified if government officials determine the target poses “an imminent threat of violent attack.”
But the confidential Justice Department “white paper” introduces a more expansive definition of self-defense or imminent attack than described by Brennan or Holder in their public speeches. It refers, for example, to what it calls a “broader concept of imminence” than actual intelligence about any ongoing plot against the U.S. homeland.

A note of explanation from the Freeman Center For Strategic Studies. When we say that JCC of Greater Houston is now accepts A*holes and anti-Semites, we are referring to the presence of
J Street activities within its range of its events. While J Street masquerades as a legitimate Jewish group, it is indeed financed by anti-Israel and Islamonazi groups seeking Israel's destruction.
While many of these groups have leftist Jews and other "useful idiots" among them, their goal is not in any way good for Israel or the Jewish People.
The Freeman Center condemns the Jewish Community Center (Houston) for allowing this group within its walls. It is not enough to allow free speech, if one does not have the courage to fight the immoral concept of moral equivalency. Good does not equal evil. Black is not white. War is not peace. Those that wish to destroy the Jewish People are not equal to those who wish to help it survive.

The National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations recently published a recording of a speech given by former senator Chuck Hagel, President Barack Obama’s highly controversial nominee for secretary of defense, in which he said that the United States has to "reverse optics" in its relationship with the state of Israel.
In order to restore its credibility as an honest broker between Israelis and Palestinians, America has to “reverse optics” in its ties with the Jewish state, the former Republican senator from Nebraska said in 2007, as first reported by Breitbart.com. "There's no question in the Arab-Israeli issue that Israel is a nation today as a result of the United States," he said, possibly referring to the decision by President Harry Truman to recognize the establishment of the State of Israel, as well as continued military, financial and diplomatic ties between the two countries. While his remarks are not entirely clear, in context, it seems that Hagel was intending to reinforce perceptions of Israel as a client state of the United States, according to Breitbart.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, testified that they spoke to President Barack Obama only once on the evening of the Sept. 11, 2012, when U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya were under attack by terrorists.
Panetta and Dempsey had a pre-scheduled meeting with Obama at 5:00 p.m. Washington, D.C. time on Sept. 11. After that they did not speak to Obama and Obama did not speak to them. Neither Panetta nor Dempsey spoke to anyone in the White House that night after their meeting with Obama.
While an American embassy was under fire, Obama blew off the Defense Secretary the Joint Chiefs of Staff because he had more important things to do… like campaign.

January 30, 2013 A jihadist website posted a new threat by al Qaeda this week that promises to conduct "shocking" attacks on the United States and the West. The posting appeared on the Ansar al Mujahidin network Sunday and carried the headline, "Map of al Qaeda and its future strikes." The message, in Arabic, asks: "Where will the next strike by al Qaeda be?" A translation was obtained by Inside the Ring. "The answer for it, in short: The coming strikes by al Qaeda, with God's Might, will be in the heart of the land of nonbelief, America, and in France, Denmark, other countries in Europe, in the countries that helped and are helping France, and in other places that shall be named by al Qaeda at other times," the threat states. The attacks will be "strong, serious, alarming, earth-shattering, shocking and terrifying."
