Date: Wednesday, October 21 @ 14:25:37 EDT Topic: Israel
Pressure helped! Jewish mother released!
From Nadia Matar Women in Green October 21, 2009
Dear Friends,
This email is a collection of two emails that were sent out today, Wednesday, by Women in Green in Israel to local activists. When reading the emails you will understand the story.
These activists are part of another email list that often sends them last minute updates, in English and in Hebrew, on activities and events that need immediate attention. If you want to be part of this additional email list, please send a request to eli7@womeningreen.org.il .
The story of what happened today to Rivka Teitel must alarm anyone who cares about basic human rights for Jews. Hopefully all of you will also add your voice and the authorities will understand that we will not accept such blatant violation of human rights against Jews.
With love of Israel,
Nadia Matar Women in Green
PROTEST THE ARREST OF RIVKA TEITEL, MOTHER OF 4 (oldest is 5 and youngest is 4 months old), RESIDENT OF SHVUT RACHEL
Women in Green strongly protest the arrest of Rivka Teitel, resident of Shvut Rachel, mother of 4 children (the oldest is 5 and the youngest is a nursing 4 month old baby), who was brutally kidnapped today by undercover policemen, who did not have the proper arrest papers. She was on her way to a hearing of her husband who has been arrested for the past two weeks without the right of seeing a lawyer.
This brutal arrest reminds us all of actions taken in third world countries. Clearly the Israeli police would never have dared to act like this against an Arab mother or a female left wing activist. Only because Rivka is a "settler" does the police feel it can act in such ways.
The time has come to stop once and for all the persecution and the trampling of basic human rights of the lovers of the land of Israel!
We call upon all to come to the Petach Tikva police station, where Rivka is being held, and protest her inhumane arrest. You can also call the Petach Tikva police and ask why Rivka was arrested and demand her immediate release. Tel: 972-3-9393444
We also call upon all to bombard with phones and faxes the office of the Police Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch. Tel: 972-2-5429944 or Fax: 972-2-5428039 or email: sar@mops.gov.il and send a copy to the Prime Minister: Fax 972-2-566-4838
The story:
Today, Wednesday, October 21st, at 12:30 pm, undercover policemen arrested Rivka Teitel, resident of Shvut Rachel, who was on her way to a hearing of her husband who has been arrested for the past two weeks without being allowed to see a lawyer. Police do not allow to divulge why her husband was arrested.
Rivka, mother of four, is a nursing mother - her baby is just four months old. Rivka has been, for the past few hours, in the Petach Tikva police station, without her children. Petach Tikva police is at Shtemper street corner Wingate.
This is definitely a political arrest and persecution of lovers of Israel. No reason was given for Rivka's arrest and she was arrested without a proper order.
It is inconceivable that in the State of Israel one arrests Jewish mothers without reason, without proper orders and abandon four children under the age of five, among them a nursing baby, with neighbors.

Email sent out today Wednesday October 21st at 5:00pm Israel time
Rivka Teitel was released this afternoon at around 4:45pm. Thank you to the tens of people who protested Rivka Teitel's arrest by sending faxes and by making phone calls. Thank you to all those who came to the Petach Tikva police. No doubt that thanks to you Rivka was released.
We must continue to protest the fact that Rivka's husband Yaakov has been under arrest for the past two weeks without the right of seeing a lawyer. We must protest this blatant violation of basic human rights.
Let's remember that we are approaching the week of the "Rabin festival" in which every year, the Israeli Left in cooperation with the Israeli media, spreads lies and blood libels about the national camp, accusing us of all murders and crimes committed in Israel since the return of the first olim in 1881. The Teitel story might very well be part of a new blood libel against the national camp.
Yaakov has U.S. Citizenship and therefor we must also turn to all US contacts demanding they too protest the fact that a U.S. citizen is denied his legal rights.
Office of Police Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch Tel: 972-2-5429944 or Fax: 972-2-5428039 or email: sar@mops.gov.il The PM cabinet sec'y is Zvi Hauser. The fax is 02 563 2580. email: memshala@it.pmo.gov.il.

ISRAEL SECURITY SERVICES DENIES U.S. CITIZEN LEGAL RIGHTS Israeljustice.com
JERUSALEM -- Israel's secret security services have denied an American citizen his legal rights to meet with an attorney since his arrest.
Israel's Security Services [Shabak] arrested Y.T on Oct. 7 in an apartment in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Har Nof but security forces have denied both legal and family access to him. A gag order was clamped on the arrest for 21 days but Israeli publications published details which were later removed from internet sites. Everything is classified," defense attorney Adi Kedar said. "I don't know anything. The case has even been to the Supreme Court. The judges know but I don't know anything [about the evidence or the charges]." A hareidi website reported that as early as the first remand hearing in Petah Tikva, the magistrate told Kedar not to appeal the remand extension of his client.
"Don't try to appeal," the hareidi website quoted the judge as saying, "because until now there hasn't been a case with so much clear evidence that links the suspect to the serious acts that he committed." "They have accused him [Y. T.] of every [unsolved] murder [in the State of Israel] from [Haim] Arlosorov [in June 1933] to the murder in the gay bar," Shmuel Meidad, head of the Honeinu Legal Aid Organization, said. "They even reported that he confessed but [defense attorney] Adi Kedar or any one else has not met with him."
Military historian Aryeh Yitzhaki has assessed that reports of Jewish terrorists or new Jewish undergrounds are unleashed each year before October 29, the date of the memorial for former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin who was assassinated in November 1995.
"They've [security officials] accused him [Y. T.] of every unsolved murder that ever occurred," Yitzhaki said. "This time [the daily] Ma'ariv [newspaper] has crossed all lines when the correspondent presented the readers with all the unsolved cases of what he termed 'terror by Jews.' The Shabak decided that these are acts of settlers despite that fact that the police said they are examining all avenues of investigations. And of course, there are the draconian administrative expulsion orders."
